After working for years in LA in post-production, winemaker Dusty Jenkins sought out a return to his roots in Yakima Valley, Washington—he grew up on a peach farm! He first gained experience as a cellar hand at Seven Hills Winery in Walla Walla, Washington and as a harvest intern at Antica Terra in the Willamette Valley, Oregon, before taking his talents to Gilbert Cellars in 2017 as assistant winemaker. In 2019 he began making wine under his own label, but it was 2020 when the project officially became Sage Rat Wine. Jenkins plans to work primarily with Italian grapes in Yakima, citing climate and soil harmony, to make wines that are food-friendly and fun.
